The Corporation of the Township of Alberton
Volunteer Fire Department
FIRE PERMITS ARE REQUIRED ANYTIME YOU BURN IN ALBERTON. There are two types of fire permit you can get: one for incinerators and enclosed bonfire pits (valid for the entire fire season), and one for burning grass, debris or brush (valid for one week from the date of issue). The fee for either type is $2.00. You can obtain a fire permit from Beth or Dawn at the Municipal Office, or from VFD Fire Chief Cory Jewell.
If you burn without a permit, you may be fined. If you burn without a permit and cause property damage or forest fire, you will be charged with the cost of fire-fighting, including the cost of assistance from the MNR or other agencies.
The Township is very proud of its volunteer firefighters. They are to be highly commended for their commitment to protecting the residents of our community and their property. If you're interested in finding out how you can get involved with the VFD, contact any VFD member or the Municipal Office.
